Nurses Week 2014

I have held the hand of a nurse as I was rolled into an O.R more times than I would like to remember.

I had a nurse hold my hand in an E.R as I was told I have clots in my legs and my lungs.

I’ve had nurses shed tears as I wept goodbye to my unborn children.

I’ve seen nurses tears of joy as I’ve held my newborn baby.

They are the front line, the warriors that take the shots from the enemies. Disease, gang violence, car accidents, domestic abuse, mental illness, physical illness and beyond.

There is a nurse in my life I call a hero. I also call her Mom.

Thank you nurses…… you are the comfort, support and compassion that is needed more and more each day in this ever changing world.

Nurses, Thank You

Every time I have walked into an O.R. (I’m almost out of fingers and toes) I’ve asked my nurse if I can hug them. I’ve never been told no. I thank them for being with me and taking care of me. I’ve been hugged back fallen “asleep” while holding and sometimes squeezing their hands.
In January my recovery nurse was someone that had taken care of me before. She soon recognized me. I smiled as soon as I saw her. She said her patients never smile after leaving the E.R. I told her she was the angel I needed while my Mom was home taking care of my 20 month old son.
She was the next best thing to my Mom being with me and we hugged as if I left like we had know each other a life time.
Thank you .
